About us
At Founders Pledge, our mission is to empower entrepreneurs to do immense good with their charitable giving. Since launching in 2015, our community of over 2,300 members has pledged nearly $13.6B and donated $1.9B+ to the charitable sector in 45+ countries.
We provide end-to-end giving infrastructure, pioneering research, and access to a global network of experts. In other words, we help tech leaders become strategic philanthropists. Our members include founders and leaders behind companies such as Airbnb, UiPath, Dropbox, Skype, Spotify, and Uber.
We focus on deploying capital where it can achieve the greatest impact, guided by evidence, careful analysis, and long-term thinking.
About the role
Salary: $100k-$105k
We're looking for a Senior Community Manager to own and deepen relationships with our Founders Pledge member base in San Francisco. Reporting to the Head of Community, you'll be the primary point of contact for our SF members - someone they trust, turn to, and want to hear from.
This is a relationship-first role. You'll meet members 1:1 both online and face-to-face, host intimate gatherings, foster connections between founders, and represent their needs back into FP's teams. You'll be a credible internal voice for what's working, what members care about, and where we can better serve them.
San Francisco is one of our most important and highest-potential markets. We're looking for someone entrepreneurial enough to build from wherever the opportunity is, resilient enough to stay the course when doors don't open immediately, and thoughtful enough to know when to push and when to hold back.
This role is a real opportunity to be the person who helps to build Founders Pledge's presence in one of the world's most exciting philanthropic markets. You'll have genuine ownership over your member relationships, real influence on how FP shows up in the Bay Area, and exposure to some of the most thoughtful philanthropic conversations happening today.
What You'll Do:
Member Engagement & Stewardship: Build and maintain a trusted portfolio of relationships with SF-based members. Secure regular 1:1 touchpoints, understand what motivates each member, and find ways to deepen their engagement with FP and their philanthropic journey.
Represent Founders Pledge Externally: Act as FP's face in the Bay Area - confidently communicating our approach to high-impact giving in one-on-one conversations and group settings, and increasing member awareness and uptake of our resources.
Events Hosting: Lead the invitation strategy and host events in the Bay Area, supporting our Events team to ensure every experience is thoughtfully curated, well-executed, and aligned with what members actually care about.
Internal Collaboration: Work closely with our Comms, Programming, Growth, Fundraising, and Advisory teams - bringing member insights into their work and coordinating to deliver a joined-up member experience.
Data & Record Management: Keep member records current and detailed, giving colleagues a reliable, holistic view of each member.
Building the Bay Area Community: Take ownership of strengthening Founders Pledge's presence in the Bay Area by developing the local engagement strategy, creating meaningful opportunities for members to connect, and fostering a strong sense of community through thoughtful introductions, small gatherings, and initiatives that strengthen the network over time.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone who is deeply people-oriented, highly proactive, and genuinely excited by the challenge of building our community in a challenging market. You bring warmth and substance in equal measure - you can naturally engage Founders and CEOs.
You'll have:
High-Touch Relationship Management: Proven experience managing relationships at a senior or HNW level, ideally within a membership, philanthropic or entrepreneurial community setting. You might have experience as a Community Manager/Community Lead, Account Executive, Customer Success Manager, Major Gifts/Donor Relations Manager.
Strong Communication: Confident and compelling in 1:1 conversations and group settings, and skilled at representing an organization with warmth and clarity.
Emotional Intelligence: Exceptional listening and interpersonal skills. You read the room, adapt your approach, and build trust quickly across different personalities and backgrounds.
Resilience & Entrepreneurialism: You're energized by building something over time. You experiment with new approaches, learn quickly, and stay motivated even when progress is incremental.
Strategic Thinking: You invest your time where it matters, know how to prioritize a large member portfolio, and think about community development with a long-term lens.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: You can work well across teams, share insights generously, and help colleagues do their jobs better.
Attention to Detail: You run a tight operation - member records, follow-ups, and event logistics are all handled with care.
Familiarity with the Bay Area tech or the philanthropic ecosystem, and experience working with high-net-worth individuals are a strong advantage but not a requirement.
Location & Travel Requirements
This role is based in San Francisco. A fair amount of travel is required for member meetings and events across the Bay Area. You'll need to work from our 600 California St. office at least once per week, to collaborate with the team.
All staff will attend team offsites once per year (or more), and all staff attend an annual global offsite.
Application Deadline
Applications will be accepted until EOD 31st July.
